Position Information 

Karabar High School is a partially Selective High school on Ngambri and Ngunnawal lands in Queanbeyan, in the border region of NSW and the ACT.

The school has a current enrolment of 977 students in years 7-12, including 9% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 9% English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D).

Karabar High School is committed to high expectations and opportunities for all. The school provides an inclusive, responsive, and supportive environment that allows each student to develop to their potential, including an academically selective stream Years 7-10 and a Performing Arts stream in Stage 4.

The mathematics faculty utilise Maths Pathways to differentiate learning and target interventions in personalised learning for all Stage 4 students.

Karabar High School is working on improving educational outcomes for all students with a focus on maintaining high standards and having all students achieve a HSC with an ATAR pattern of study, with a range of innovative community engagement projects as well as focused learning support.

The school works closely with the local AECG and engages in parent consultation groups each term.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach mathematics Years 7-12. 

 

Willingness to teach extension 1 and/or extension 2 Mathematics

 

A demonstrated commitment to contribute to a faculty team delivering mathematics courses across all stages, from numeracy intervention to Mathematics Extension 1 and 2. 

 

Demonstrated ability to effectively implement technology in the classroom, delivering differentiated teaching programs to enhance learning growth for a diverse range of students, including Aboriginal and EAL/D students.

 

Demonstrated effective classroom management and wellbeing practices to build positive relationships to empower students to connect and be safe, respectful, engaged, and resilient learners.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
