Required for Spring Term 2018

We are looking for a teacher of Languages to teach Arabic, initially at beginners level, for anyone over the age of 16. It will run for an hour and a half each week and will be part of our Lingua Centre programme which runs from 5pm-6.30pm on an agreed weekday. Preparation time will also be reimbursed. There may also be an opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to provide support for native speakers and for students entering the GCSE Arabic examination.

The Anglo European School was the first comprehensive school to become a Language College in 1995. The nature and philosophy of the school makes this an exciting opportunity for a modern linguist.

You will be joining a school which values the teaching of languages and a commitment to internationalism. All members of staff working at this school support the aims and ethos of the school and can participate in the extensive visits programme.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About Anglo European School

Anglo European School is a 11-19, co-educational comprehensive school situated in Ingatestone, Essex. It has approximately 1,415 students.

The school was opened in 1973 after the closure of a secondary modern school led locals to campaign to keep the school open and the Local Authority, Essex, decided to establish a school with a “European Dimension”.

Anglo European School serves local needs but also draw students from across Essex and parts of London. In 1977 it became the first UK state school to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma and in 1995 the first comprehensive school to become a specialist Language college. In 2005 the school established the first co-headship model in a state secondary school.

As a centre of excellence for language learning, the school offers Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish as well as English as an Additional Language and Latin.  Up until age 16 all students study two languages other than English.

In the sixth form, students must study one language. They have a choice of A-levels or an opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma. There is also the chance to study selected parts of the IB Diploma with A-levels. In addition, the International Baccalaureate Career Programme provides an internationally recognised vocational qualification.
