We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Art & Design to join our thriving department from August 2023 (Maternity Cover , 1 Year). The successful applicant will have a passion for Art and Design. They will be expected to stimulate and support interest in and enjoyment of the subject throughout the department with Junior and Senior School pupils.  

 The Art & Design Department currently comprises of 3 full-time teachers, 3 part-time teachers  and a full-time technician. The department is situated in our Castle Building, with large, north facing windows, offering spectacularly inspirational views across to Edinburgh Castle. We teach a wide range of disciplines including ceramics, textiles and 3D design and are always keen to expand our team in terms of skills to offer our pupils. 

Art & Design is taught as a specialised subject from Primary 3 through to S6. A broad general education cements the skills that lead on to National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Art and Design as well as Higher photography. The department also offers a wealth of interest classes and clubs which are well populated and run weekly by our talented department. S6 classes are also offered a life drawing class as part of their portfolio preparation. Previous experience teaching life drawing and computer aided design would be advantageous. 

 The successful candidate will have the ability to relate well to and communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
