An exciting opportunity for a teacher of Art and Design with outstanding potential to join our ambitious and inspiring school. The Art and Design department is a vibrant, dynamic department which achieves outstanding GCSE results year on year. We strongly believe in a broad, varied and experimental art curriculum which includes printmaking, photography, textiles, 3D studies, mixed media, painting and drawing. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities to complement our curriculum. Whilst this is a 0.5 teaching post, teaching years 7 to 11 over 3 days, this is a unique opportunity, with the potential for full-time with TA and technician duties within the Art and Design Department on the remaining 2 days. 

We have recently been judged by Ofsted to be a ‘Good’ school and are now looking for an energetic, committed teacher who is excited to contribute to join our outstanding Art and Design Department in the next stage of our journey. The successful candidate will be an experienced or outstanding recently qualified teacher with: 

  • the ability to engage and inspire students and transmit a passion and enthusiasm for
  • Art and Design;
  • knowledge and understanding of a variety of different disciplines within Art and Design, including photography, 3D studies and Textiles.
  • knowledge and understanding of current teaching and learning strategies in Art and Design; 
  • excellent subject knowledge of Art History and contemporary artists and designers.
  • the ability or potential to teach inspirational lessons to a range of abilities across both
  • key stages;
  • an enthusiastic commitment to developing the school’s extra-curricular offering;
  • a commitment to Loreto High School’s high expectations and powerful ethos;
  • the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of our students;
  • a desire to work collaboratively and to make a real contribution to the development of our department and the progress of our students;
  • Understanding and experience of implementing successful intervention programmes.
