We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate teacher of Art & Design with a specialism in Fine Art for January 2021 at our Strode's College Campus. In addition, there is the opportunity for a suitably qualified candidate to take on some tutorial responsibility.

The Role and You

Art & Design forms part of the Department of Art, Design and Media and the current staffing complement consists of 3 full-time and 7 part-time members of staff. The Art courses are supported by a full time technician. There are approximately 180 learners enrolled on A Level (AQA) Fine Art, Graphic Communications, 3D Design and Photography and BTEC Level 3 Art & Design and Photography at the College.

Art & Design consists of five studios, a Dark Room and a dedicated multi-material workshop. In addition, there is also a kiln room and specialist clay/ceramics facilities as well as ICT resources using the Adobe Creative Cloud programmes. Teachers of Art and Design have their own workspaces in the purpose-built office accommodation within the teaching block, and teaching staff are provided with their own laptop. There is a long established and well-protected culture of sharing good practice in the department and teachers are actively encourage to develop professionally.

The Department has a strong tradition of enrichment with workshops and visits to numerous exhibitions, galleries and places of interest to enhance learning and support the development of students’ individual interests and skills. In addition, students are encouraged to showcase their work through a variety of opportunities including both external and internal competitions and the annual Art and Design exhibition. Many students go on to study Art related courses with a significant number proceeding to first degrees in Art and Design, related subjects or onto Foundation courses.

We hope that the successful candidate will continue to facilitate the department’s growth and success and, help the college move from their recent Ofsted grade of Good, towards Outstanding.
