Job overview

Underpinned by our Christian ethos, at Trinity Academy we believe each of our students to be uniquely gifted, infinitely precious and morally responsible.  Our goal is that students should gain wisdom, not just knowledge, and we therefore take greater delight in our students’ emerging character than in their grades.  Of course, there is no need to choose between the two; academic excellence is promoted by virtuous character – and character strengthened by the pursuit of excellence.  Our mission, therefore, is to encourage academic, moral and spiritual development within a Christian framework.

We are a vibrant community, with strong and fulfilling relationships between students and their teachers, and a growing co-curricular programme. Whilst we serve an area of relatively high disadvantage, former students have gone on to become world-class in their field. Understanding each child to be created in the image of God, we explicitly challenge low expectations and raise aspirations.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Teacher of Art and Textiles on a full or part-time basis for a period of maternity leave. To be successful, you will have high professional standards and excellent subject knowledge, with the ability to teach inspirational lessons across all key stages. You will also have drive, determination and be able to engage and motivate students.

We're proud to boast three dedicated art and textiles classrooms and support of an art technician.

The welfare of our staff is important to us, we subscribe to Care First Lifestyle and are firmly committed to CPD. We offer a comprehensive programme with daily meal allowance, superb promotion prospects and career development. We also enjoy outstanding accommodation within extensive grounds; good motorway links put us in easy reach of Leeds, Sheffield and Hull.

Visits from prospective candidates are warmly welcomed.

Trinity Academy opened in September 2005 in a brand new £24m state-of-the-art building, which has since been extended to meet the demand for a vibrant sixth form. Trinity is a distinctive school: we believe that children are created in the image of God, infinitely (and intrinsically) precious, uniquely gifted, and morally responsible. We therefore dream big dreams for our students: they are the leaders of the future. Our task is to prepare them to exercise that leadership by raising aspiration, shaping character and stimulating minds.

At the heart of our school improvement journey is a conviction within the staff team that together we can make a difference. Expectations are therefore made clear to students and their parents, and teachers employ consistent routines to maintain high standards.   Teachers are subject experts, and we encourage a straightforward evidence-based pedagogy that sets teachers free to express their own individual style in the classroom.  We place a premium on high quality, bespoke continuing professional development and develop strong relationships between staff and students which are based upon mutual respect.

We seek colleagues for whom teaching is a vocation rather than a career, who set the highest standards for children regardless of starting point, and who believe in the transformative power of education.

Part of Emmanuel Schools Foundation, Trinity Academy has sister schools in Blyth, Gateshead, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
