Job overview

Ark St Alban’s Academy

Teacher of Art

Ark St Alban’s Academy is seeking an excellent Art teacher to make an immediate impact in its outstanding Art department.

Art is one of most successful departments at Ark St Alban’s Academy, with pupils thriving in their study of the subject across key stage three, four and five. Led by an experienced art teacher and curriculum leader, the department has consistently achieved excellent outcomes for young people. Our pupils are proud of the work that they produce and they are conscientious and determined artists. The subject is hugely popular at key stage four and throughout the school, there is a determination to expand our extra-curricula art offer to meet growing demand for pupils to develop their artistic skills and to expressive themselves through art work.

At Ark St Alban’s Academy, we are supporting all of our pupils to climb the mountain to university.

We believe that success in a university preparatory curriculum is the best way to make sure that all of our pupils can make meaningful choices about their future when they leave us. As such, we teach an academically rigorous curriculum and provide pupils with both the pastoral support and the excellent teaching that they need in order to thrive.

In joining our school, the successful candidate will also be joining the Ark network. As a result, this role provides the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues not only within the school, but also across the city and across the country. Working together, colleagues across the network not only share best practice and develop curriculum plans, but also support with moderation and assessment and with designing unique and exciting enrichment activities.

The outcomes pupils achieve in art is one our proudest achievements.

As a Church of England School, we believe that climbing the mountain to university is the best way to challenge all of our pupils to fulfil their God-given talents. We also recognise our role in addressing inequality by ensuring that pupils drawn from a low-income community have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. This role will provide you with the opportunity to play a leading role in a department which is going to achieve truly exceptional outcomes for the young people that we serve.

We are seeking a teacher that is ready to play an important role in our work to provide a transformational education for all of our pupils.

For an informal, conversation about the role please contact Katie Roberts on 0121 446 1323 or katie.roberts@arkstalbans.org.

Please submit your application online by visiting http://arkstalbans.org/vacancies. The deadline for applications is Monday 28 June 2021 at 10.00am.
