Alleyn's is one of the country’s leading HMC co-educational independent day schools, committed to achieving educational excellence within an ethos of strong pastoral care and a vibrant co-curriculum.
Located in Dulwich, South London, with a separate IAPS Junior School on the same 30-acre site, the senior school has around 1,000 pupils, including a large and dynamic Sixth Form.
We are looking to appoint a full time Teacher of Art from 1 September 2020. The ideal candidate will be someone who is enthusiastic and well-qualified, who can demonstrate excellence in the classroom, contribute fully to the co-curricular programme, and who has a real love for Art and an ability to convey this to pupils. The capability to motivate and inspire (both students and teachers) is vital as well as being able to work as part of a strong team and this post would suit either an experienced or newly qualified teacher.
Art is taught throughout the School and the Art department aims to bridge the gap between “School Art” and art in the real world by encouraging students to see the subject as an intellectual and creative pursuit. The successful applicant will join a team of 5 full-time members of staff and the department is well equipped with a Sixth Form studio, a large GCSE studio and three Lower School studios. All studios are furnished with ceiling mounted projectors connected to PCs. Additionally, all studios have a printing press and are equipped for all two-dimensional and most three-dimensional media. The department also has a Digital Art studio equipped with 10 Apple Macs, a darkroom, a kiln room, an Art library and a departmental office.
The Exam results at Key Stage 4 and 5 are excellent with the majority of pupils gaining A/A* grades and a significant number of students apply to art related competitive degree and foundation courses ranging from Architecture to Fashion.
