Job overview

Cove School is an oversubscribed secondary school in Hampshire.  We are within easy commute of London, the historic city of Winchester and the peaceful surroundings of the New Forest.  As a growing school we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Art teacher to join a great team who are consistently praised by Hampshire regarding GCSE outcomes.

You will have a passion for your subject along with the drive, energy and enthusiasm to work within the existing creative and dynamic team.  It is essential that you are a good classroom practitioner and are forward looking, creative and enthusiastic.  The subject is taught in three specialist Art rooms, one of which houses a kiln room.  The subject is very popular at Key Stage 4 and there are some exciting opportunities to further enhance the quality of provision.

The latest Ofsted visit in December 2018 agreed the school is moving in the right direction, whereby leadership and behaviour are both good and that we are focused on the right cultural changes to continue the rapid improvement journey.

The department offers great support for specialist teachers and we welcome applications from recently qualified teachers, as well as existing teachers.  We offer a ‘vibrant CPD programme’ – Ofsted 2018, including bespoke leadership programmes at all levels.  We work closely with other local secondary schools and Hampshire local authority.

We provide a broad, high calibre education for our 1000 students covering the whole ability range and we aim to ensure a happy, secure and energetic community in which our students and staff can flourish.  The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in extra-curricular activities where possible and the pastoral life of this busy school.

Further details and an application form are available online or contact Linda Ware on 01252 542397 or l.ware@coveschool.uk

Candidates who wish to talk with the Headteacher about this post, or visit the school in advance of submitting an application, are very welcome to do so.
