Teacher of Art

The Candidate 

We are seeking a candidate who is a skilled artist and able to demonstrate excellent practical skills in one or more areas of art. You must show an eye for detail and the ability to teach precise techniques so that students are equipped with the skills needed to become accomplished artists. As an art teacher, you must be passionate about your subject and have a  real enthusiasm for helping students develop a love of art and design; and identifying and developing student potential is key.  We would encourage innovative practice. A keen desire to make a difference and a belief that a good school can and does make a significant difference to students' life chances and achievement, including the wider skills needed in life.

You will:

• have a passion for Art and Technology which is evident in your teaching
• be able to model a range of artistic techniques to a high standard
• demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students
• have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning
• be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
• possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
• demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching  

The Department

The art department has two full time teachers who offer art and photography. Art is a popular subject at Bohunt Farnborough, students enjoy and excel in art and photography and both subjects are taught at GCSE. The art department is part of the Art and Design department, led by a highly experienced and inspirational art specialist, who is looking for a talented teacher to bring a new dimension to the art department. The department has two dedicated art rooms, one that also includes a dark room, a kiln, a photographic studio and a suite of computers for teaching photography. In addition there is a textiles and graphics room and two design technology rooms as well as two specialist food technology rooms.
