Job overview

If you are in education to make a real difference to young people’s lives, Fearnhill is for you. We are on an exciting journey with significant improvement evident across the school, growing popularity with parents and an environment for professional development that is second to none. As a warm and inclusive community transforming the lives of young people in Letchworth, we have an opportunity for an art and design specialist to join us for one year as a maternity cover. We invite you to come and spend some time here; meet our students, watch innovative teaching in action and enjoy our calm and purposeful learning environment. We welcome applications from ECTs or more experienced colleagues. We work flexibly; part-time applications will also be considered. A message from Louise, Head of Art and Design Thank you for your interest in this role and we look forward to welcoming you to the team. We are a small, vibrant and committed group of teachers who continually develop our curriculum and teaching to meet the needs of our students. They enjoy the passion and creative thinking process and we are reintroducing an A level cohort to Fearnhill this year. You will be the main teacher of KS3 art, with opportunities to teach and support the GCSE and A level students in well equipped classrooms. We have a dedicated clay room with kiln and resources ready for every era and genre. We include clay work, photography and graphics in the KS3 curriculum as well as teaching the fundamental features of fine art, giving any candidate a brilliant opportunity to put their stamp and passion on any area of art expertise.

If you are interested in working with keen students and dedicated, creative teachers, please don’t hesitate to apply for this role and join our wonderful school. We look forward to meeting you; please get in touch with Head’s PA Jacqui.simmonds10@fearnhill.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit (some costs can be covered for this), or call Liz Ellis, Headteacher, on 01462 621200 for more information.
