We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic artist who is also a committed teacher to join our happy, highly successful and supportive Art and Design Department. We offer a traditional Fine Art education from Key Stage 3 to 5, with an emphasis on the formal elements. We have a receptive and well behaved student body who respond well to intelligent teaching. This post provides exciting opportunities for either an experienced teacher or an NQT and we invite applicants of all artistic backgrounds to apply. 

The Department runs residential trips to Paris, Rome and Suffolk as well as visits to galleries in London, Oxford and Cambridge. The Sixth Form programme includes the RA Outreach Life Drawing project as well as opportunities to exhibit their work in the wider community. We have a working pottery, a dark room and three general teaching rooms. Our Art team, which comprises three full time and two part time members of staff, teach a variety of disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, mixed-media work and sculpture. We are well supported by our technician. 

The successful applicant will be:

  • A well qualified individual with a good degree in Art and Design, and a rich and diverse knowledge of Art History 
  • Able to deliver the Art and Design curriculum across Key Stages 3 – 5
  • An excellent communicator, facilitator and team player 
  • Able to demonstrate the use of drawing and understand its value in their teaching
  • A reflective practitioner who is willing to take an active role in the wider life of the school

In 2016, 96% of GCSE pupils achieved Grade C or above. Sixth form pupils achieve extremely well and in 2016 100% of A Level students achieved A*-C grades. 

All staff receive high quality CPD opportunities and there is a comprehensive induction programme for NQTs.

We offer a full support and induction programme for all new staff and commitment to continued professional development.
