Teacher of Art
Thornton College is a highly successful school situated in 25 acres of beautiful parkland, just outside Milton Keynes on the Northants/Bucks border. The school has grown from strength to strength over the past decade and the demand for places is high. Numerous major developments have recently taken place including an award winning Science and Prep Classroom building, Expressive Arts Studio and Pre-Prep Department. A new Sixth Form opened in September 2018.
We require an additional Art and Design Teacher to deliver the curriculum up to and including A level. Candidates must show a clear love of the subject, evident through their approach to teaching and be committed to involvement in the many co-curricular opportunities the department offers. Candidates should be adaptable team players, interested in developing their own skills to teach across all disciplines and able to demonstrate a wish to continue their own art work to inspire their pupils. An interest in Fine Art, Ceramics and Textiles would be preferable. Newly Qualified Teachers are welcome to apply.
The Art department is a well-resourced area with facilities for working in Fine Art, Sculpture, Textiles and Photography. The department consists of two purpose built rooms and a sixth form gallery. Displays are created throughout the school. There are also IT rooms for students to use to develop their ideas and plan personal projects.
