Art is taken seriously at the school and uptake at GCSE is good. Pupils work in a focused manner and the department consistently achieve outstanding results. We currently offer GCSE in the following endorsements: Art and Design, Fine Art, Textiles and Photography.  During the summer term we have an exhibition of GCSE work to celebrate their success.  

The department also benefits from a part-time Art Technician.

The Art Department consists of 2 Art studios, a fully operational pottery and a well-equipped darkroom. We also have a small suite of Apple Mac computers used by Art and Media students.

The benefits package includes free on-site parking and a laptop. Other facilities include an on-site gym and an on-site nursery. We are a rural school within easy driving distance of Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke.

The Hurst School is a successful and highly regarded school of 1000 students aged 11-16, situated within easy driving distance of Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke. The school enjoys a semi-rural location and sits on a large site with green surroundings.
