Teacher of Biology & Chemistry A Level (part time)

Westminster Tutors is a small, independent sixth form college in South Kensington. It is Ofsted Outstanding and one of the most academically successful independent colleges in London, despite being non-selective. Its success is in part due to its highly supportive, bespoke educational provision, with all classes one to one or in small groups. Students are supported inclusively according to their individual needs, with subject teachers adapting their teaching to each individual student. What we are looking for:

We are looking for a teacher who is able to teach both Biology and Chemistry A level (part-time/ paid hourly). 

The successful candidate will likely be a qualified teacher, with experience either leading a department, or willing to take on responsibility as lead teacher for one or both subjects.  We require a good degree/ postgraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry or closely related subjects, as well as a proven ability to engage and inspire students aged 16+.

Please note that our chosen A level board is OCR for both subjects but we also teach other exam boards. Experience teaching a range of boards is an advantage, although versatility and the willingness to take on new challenges will serve just as well. 

Our students have a broad range of needs, although the majority go on to Russell Group universities.  Experience teaching and preparing students for highly competitive UCAS applications would be an advantage, as would be ability to support students with BMAT and Oxbridge interviews.  Additionally, experience teaching A level students with SEND including specific learning difficulties and those on the autism spectrum is another advantage.

Coronavirus update:

We are small, safe and socially distanced because we do almost all of our teaching one-to-one.  Our approach also means that we can seamlessly move to teaching online if required.

 We have  had 99% participation from staff and students to twice-weekly lateral flow testing, and our current staff say that they have found our covid procedures very reassuring.
