Teacher of Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies
Responsibilities
We are seeking to appoint a full-time Teacher of Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies for the start of the school year in August 2018. The position will be a two years renewable contract.
Biology is a popular subject within the school. The majority of our learners will take individual sciences at iGCSE and we typically have four IB Higher Biology classes. The popularity of the subject is matched by the success of our students. Many biology graduates will continue to major in related disciplines in the world’s highest ranked universities and we have a well-defined pathway to medicine and health related higher education courses.
Teaching alongside the Head of Biology and wider science team, you will be able to teach Biology across the age and ability range (Years 7-13) including iGCSE and IB Standard and Higher Level, you will also be able to teach Environmental Systems and Societies to IB Higher Level.
Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Education, or Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
2-4 years teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
Experience of teaching IB is not a necessity and applications are welcome from those with experience of equivalent programmes such as A level. Above all, you will be an excellent teacher and/or leader who shows a willingness to contribute to and learn from the rest of your team. You will have experience of contributing to curriculum change and be willing to explore and embrace the philosophy of the IB programmes. There will be some teaching of general science to lower school students.
