Teacher of Biology

We are seeking to appoint, from September 2021, an inspiring, committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Biology. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher, passionate about their subject, and must be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school. This position would equally suit an experienced teacher or NQT.
Bury Grammar School is a growing and ambitious school and there may be positions of leadership or responsibility available for the right candidate.
The Faculty
We have a highly successful Science Faculty at Bury Grammar School. The Head of Faculty line manages the Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics along with a dedicated team of specialist technicians. Pupils are taught the sciences as separate disciplines, by subject specialists in dedicated laboratories from Years 7 – 13 and opt for the Combined or Separate Science route at the end of Year 8. The Science Faculty run a popular and diverse academic enrichment programme. All three sciences are popular choices at A-Level and have had great success over recent years in terms of medical, veterinary, engineering and other competitive university courses.
The Department
The Biology department consists of five dedicated teachers teaching Biology separately from Year 7 through to Year 13. With excellent results, the Biology department is one of the most popular A-level options, with consistently large numbers of pupils taking it at A-level and a distinguished list of pupils going on to Biology, Medicine or Dentistry degrees. A focus on practical activity ensures pupils in all key stages are enthusiastic about Biology and the ever-popular Pet Club is a highlight for many pupils in Key Stage 3.
