Teacher of Biology - Maternity Cover.
This role is offered at 0.8 FTE working 4-days per week excluding Wednesdays and is Maternity Cover in the first instance.
Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive all-girls independent school, based in Hertfordshire. The school is looking to add a Teacher of Biology to its progressive and supportive Science Department ideally starting January 2022.
The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Biology at KS3, GCSE and A-level across year groups 7 to 13. You will support the Head of Science to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.
“This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified and enthusiastic part-time (4 days per week, not working on Wednesday) Teacher of Biology to join our vibrant academically selective school as Maternity Cover. The Biology Department is part of a thriving and successful Science Department, comprising 21 teaching staff, of which there are 3 full-time and 4 part-time biologists. The Department has 1 full-time dedicated technician whilst 2 further full-time technicians offer support across the three sciences. The Science Department is well-resourced both in terms of equipment and teaching laboratories. Students in Years 7 - 11 are issued with school iPads, and Sixth Form students bring their own mobile devices to lessons. The Department has undergone an exciting programme of change – as of Easter 2020, we have 5 dedicated Biology laboratories, a Departmental Office and Prep Room."

The school expects:
• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• a relevant Biology Degree or a related subject
• experience of delivering Biology up to A-level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject
• a love and passion for education.
