Lord Wandsworth College seeks to appoint a Teacher of Biology for September 2018.
Applications are invited from experienced and enthusiastic candidates, with an excellent degree in a directly relevant subject, to teach throughout the College and to join this thriving and dynamic department. Formal teaching qualifications are not essential, however, proven teaching experience would be a distinct advantage. NQTs are also welcome to apply.
Lord Wandsworth College is one of the country’s leading co-educational boarding and day Colleges for approximately 600 pupils aged 11-18. Set within 1,200 acres of its own farmland on the North Hampshire/Surrey border, Lord Wandsworth College offers a rich education designed to allow its pupils to flourish in a rapidly changing and challenging 21st-century world. A pioneering character education programme overarches the excellent academic, co-curricular and pastoral provision, through which countless opportunities are created for all pupils to develop the qualities and attitudes of mind needed to lead successful and fulfilled lives now and in the future.
The Biology Department is highly successful, well resourced and has its own suite of laboratories, as well as resource areas and prep rooms. Each laboratory is equipped with wireless internet access and data projectors. At GCSE, both double-award and triple-science options are taught, and the subject is very popular at A Level. The department runs field trips in Years 10 and 12, and recently ran a trip to Dominica to work with researchers on biodiversity. In 2020 all three sciences will move into a state-of-the-art Science Block.
This is a full-time post and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the boarding school.
The College offers a competitive salary scale and package.
