The College is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, high performing and enthusiastic individual to the full-time post (maternity cover) of Teacher of A Level Biology and BTEC Applied Science, who will lead and inspire students. The Biology and Applied Science departments at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College are extremely high performing with a track record of achieving Outstanding ALPs value added for the last three years.

BIOLOGY at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College

The Biology department is lively, dynamic and progressive in terms of their approach to teaching and learning. The Biology department offers Biology A Level using the AQA specification and is highly popular with approximately 470 students and from September 2024 will be offering Environmental Science A Level. The Applied Science department offers BTEC Level 3 and BTEC Level 2 Applied Science and is highly popular.

There is a friendly and professional atmosphere within the department and across all the science departments, with a strong emphasis on encouraging a positive rapport between staff and students in the pursuit of academic success. Within the departments there is a wealth of experience and professional knowledge and an encouragement to undertake CPD. We would welcome applications from recently qualified teachers and ECTs.

The department has made a major contribution to the academic standing of the College, both locally and nationally. We have been particularly successful this year in terms of the Biology Olympiad and are proud of our students’ achievements at Bronze, Silver and Gold award level.
