Job overview

Salary: SFCA Teachers Pay Scale

The Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), formed on 1 April 2019 and delivers post 16 education in the West Midlands. Hereford Sixth Form College is part of this Trust. The MAT has an annual budget of £50m and serves the needs of 8,500 students across the region.

Hereford Sixth Form College has over 2000 full-time 16-19 students and an excellent reputation for its results and extra-curricular provision. Rated Ofsted outstanding in 2023, the College consistently achieves one of the highest Advanced Level points scores per entry of over 100 SFC’s nationally and has outstanding value-added results as measured by both the ALIS and ALPS systems.

Business, Enterprise and Travel are popular and successful subjects and consistently achieve Grade 1 department status. The department currently offers the following courses:

Enterprise at BTEC Level 1/2 and Level 3

Travel and Tourism at BTEC Level 1/2 and Level 3

Across the department there are currently 7 first year BTEC certificate groups and 5 second year extended certificate groups, with 3 groups for the level 1/2 programme.

Due to an increase in numbers in Enterprise, we are looking for a part-time member of staff to teach in the department. The successful applicant will be expected to teach across both subjects and at levels 2 and 3.

Four members of staff contribute to the work of the department and do teach other subjects across the department. The areas work closely together, and most teachers have been involved in more than one area.

Generally, teaching groups are about 24 in size and accommodated in well-presented classrooms. All rooms have computer terminals connected to the College network together with interactive whiteboards and a full range of technology to aid in delivery of the course. All members of the department work as a team to provide the best learning environment for the students. Emphasis is placed on staff supporting each other and sharing good working practice both informally and more formally in the context of implementing consistent departmental practice.
