Job overview

Bede’s is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Business Studies. Our new teacher will have the talent to help every pupil to their best possible results at GCSE and A Level. You will be determined to inspire young people, and to help inculcate a love of your subject amongst your pupils. You will be able to enjoy working with gifted pupils who aspire to study at the very highest level as much as you enjoy working with those who find the subject particularly taxing.

Business Studies & Economics are under the aegis of the Head of Department, Mr. Barry Jackson. Together with History, Government & Politics; Geography; and Religion & Philosophy the departments form the Faculty of Social Science, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy (SHAPE). You will be eager to be a part of a successful faculty, teaching exciting and innovative lessons, and contributing outside the classroom as well.

The department delivers courses in CIE Business Studies at GCSE and A level as well as CIE Economics at GCSE and A level. The department works closely with the Faculty of Inquiry Learning to deliver BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 in Business as well as BTEC Marketing at Level 3. We also offer pupils a broad extra-curricular programme including the Bede’s Enterprise Challenge and trips to a range of Businesses, as well as offering a variety of Masterclasses, support sessions and enrichment groups. You will be excited to contribute to, and extend, this excellent offer.

We particularly welcome applications from teachers who are able to teach Economics or have experience of teaching BTEC courses in our subjects.

Early Career Teachers will also be considered for this post, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss the details of the dedicated programme of support we provide for those beginning their teaching careers. This includes generous timetable remission, expert mentorship from our Head of Teacher Development, and the possibility of residential accommodation.

Whilst we are seeking a full-time teacher, we will also consider applicants who would like to work part-time on a 0.8 FTE basis.

Bede’s is a busy, energetic and friendly school set in beautiful surroundings. We enjoy excellent facilities and resources and we offer superb opportunities for the personal and professional development of our teachers. Employment at Bede’s comes with an excellent package of benefits such as employee pension schemes, an employee assistance programme and many more.

To apply, please go to: bedes.org > Working at Bede’s to download an application form. Please email your completed form with a covering letter to: recruitment@bedes.org

Closing date: 9.00am on Monday, 23rd May 2022.
