Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Teacher of Business Studies and IT. This post is an opportunity to join our successful team who wish to share their love of Business Studies and IT with a new colleague. We seek to appoint a well-qualified and passionate Teacher who can enthuse students with an infectious love of this subject. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to continue to develop professionally in a well led and supportive environment.

Do you love Business Studies and IT and teaching these subjects?

In Business Studies students study for the BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise at KS4 and the BTEC National Extended Certificate in Business at KS5. Business Studies is a popular subject within the college with an increased uptake each year at both KS4 and KS5. We are an official partner school for the National Enterprise Challenge and our students have reached the finals at Wembley Stadium and more recently the virtual finals presenting in front of various entrepreneurs including Theo Paphitis. In addition to this PwC have invited the college to take part in a dragons den style competition for our current year 9 cohort who have elected to study Business at KS4.

We have outstanding facilities to support students’ learning, including five dedicated IT rooms, and chromebooks for each year group which allow students to effectively develop and explore their IT skills. IT at John Henry Newman has a strong reputation and is fully embedded into the curriculum at key stages 3, 4 and 5. In IT, students follow the national curriculum in KS3 and then the Tech Award in Digital Information Technology at KS4, before studying the BTEC National Extended Certificate in Information Technology at KS5.

Our Academy is a learning community of outstanding teachers and staff who wish to make a positive difference to the young people we serve. This vacancy has arisen due to expansion of the College and oversubscription for Year 7 places.

John Henry Newman Catholic College is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as well as providing evidence of qualifications.

Applications must be submitted on the Catholic Education Service (CES) application form, also available to download at www.johnhenrynewmancatholiccollege.org.  You are very welcome to come and look around before you submit your application, please contact Mrs Lisa Maddison, PA to the Principal by email at lmaddison@jhncc.org or telephone on 0121 770 5331. Completed applications should be returned to Mrs Lisa Maddison.
