Job overview

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen at Derby High School for an enthusiastic, innovative, and creative Teacher of Business. This is a full-time role due to the expansion of the department as we are now offering GCSE Business, in addition to A level Business and A Level Economics. The ability to teach Economics would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have the potential to deliver outstanding Business classes at A level and GCSE. This post would be suitable for either an experienced teacher or a newly qualified teacher seeking to develop their career. The successful applicant will also be expected to make a positive contribution to the co-curricular life of the school.

Business at Derby High is a popular part of the Social Science Faculty where Business and Economics are joined by the Psychology and Politics departments for A-level.

The School teaches to the Edexcel specification for all Business years and AQA for Economics.

As optional subjects, the Social Sciences maintain links with all key stages through a number of co-curricular options and events and lunchtime clubs. All KS3 students have the opportunity to participate in the LIBF Personal Finance Qualification at Level 1 and all L6 students can take part in Derby High’s Mini Business Activity which enables them to set up and run a business. The Social Science PEBL Club encourages our prefects and scholars to share their passion and interest with the lower school in regular seminars and presentations on Psychology, Politics, Economics, Business and Law. In addition, we have school-wide competitions and events to help promote the various subjects of our Social Sciences in order to contribute to the vibrant and wide-ranging co-curricular offering of the whole school.
