1.0 FTE TEACHER OF BUSINESS STUDIES
(+ remuneration for negotiated whole school responsibilities for the right candidate)
Required September 2018
Could the grass be greener elsewhere? We think it is here! We have a gorgeous open site in the Yorkshire Dales, well-behaved students, happy staff and we are going places!
We would love you to come and have a look around as a prospective Lead Teacher of Business Studies with us. CPD is focused on pedagogy, underpinned by up to date research. Teachers continually develop their craft with the support of their peers and the senior leadership team.
Business Studies is a fairly new addition to our curriculum. In Post 16, first teaching was in 2016/17 and soon we will be moving to the new Tech level qualification. From September 2018, we are introducing Business Studies to our KS4 curriculum, with over two thirds of students opting for it! Ultimately, there will be a Business thread through our entire curriculum from KS3 to KS5.
Our Post 16 is in the process of transitioning to a Business & Innovation Centre, so this is a wonderful opportunity to join us at the start of something new. We believe we are developing something niche at Post 16 and this has excited our community of business partners who work closely with us in providing business links for our students, both locally and further afield, as well as offering business mentoring and careers support.
The post requires an inspirational, energetic and reflective individual. As a Teacher of Business Studies, you will be required to teach academic and vocational business to all key stages. You will be required to keep abreast of educational theory, to inform your teaching, understand the value of knowledge in the curriculum and the ability to apply that knowledge in a contextual manner.
We require our teachers to understand the process of cognition and meta-cognition when planning valuable educational experiences for our students. Our staff are relentless in their ambition to ensure the success of our students. Our approach is simple; clear systems and unapologetically high expectations.
We’d like to hear from you if you:
· Are looking to work in an amazing school
· Have a ‘can do’ attitude
· Are inspirational
· Are reflective
What we are offering:
· A salary commensurate with experience with possible additional remuneration for the right candidate for negotiated whole school responsibilities or for the delivery of various KPIs - applications from newly qualified teachers are also welcome
· Opportunities for career progression
· A thriving community ethos
We are on the move to ‘Outstanding’ and are looking for forward-thinking, emotionally intelligent and innovative teachers to join a supportive team that is committed to improving the life chances of young people. You would be part of an organisation that enjoys a great reputation in the area and one that will develop your career; we have a great track record and there are numerous opportunities for professional development.
Our students are a key factor in making the school a welcoming and friendly learning environment and all stakeholders adhere to 3 key behaviours that shape the school’s mission and ethos: respectful, hard-working and positive.
Our school has a strong community feel and is set in a beautiful part of the North Yorkshire countryside. There are a wide range of shopping, leisure and cultural facilities as well as excellent schools, universities, road and rail links which provide convenient connectivity to the metropolitan cities of Leeds and Newcastle. We border the Lake District, Lancashire, County Durham, and Yorkshire & Humber regions with all they have to offer. North Yorkshire is a spectacular place to live and work.
