Based in the market town of Wednesbury, West Midlands, Stuart Bathurst Catholic High School is a secondary school in the Catholic tradition, with around 900 pupils. This makes Stuart Bathurst smaller than the average school of its type, although it does still run its own 6th form. The school’s catchment area is extremely culturally and economically diverse, a fact reflected in its student intake. Although the vast majority of the school's teaching takes place on-site, off-site provision is offered at a number of different local sites for pupils studying specific subjects.

Values and Vision

As a Catholic school, traditional Christian values underpin much of the school’s ethos, with staff working hard to ensure that students strive for the common good of their community. The school also maintains its own Chapel, with prayer being a regular part of life at the school. As a voluntary-aided school, Stuart Bathurst Catholic High School receives support from the local Roman Catholic Archdiocese. In terms of academic exploits, the school provides a wide-ranging curriculum to its students, with a large number of both academic and vocational subjects available at both Key Stage 4 and sixth form.

Ofsted

“The school offers pupils a good balance of subjects to follow as well as a wide range of extra-curricular activities and revision sessions. The curriculum is well planned and it has a positive impact on pupils’ behaviour and personal development, including for sixth-form students. It makes a strong contribution to helping pupils develop their awareness and understanding of a wide range of spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues, as well as British values.”
