The vacancy arises as a result of more hours of Science being taught at GCSE level. The vacancy represents an exciting opportunity for a graduate of Science (Biology and/or Chemistry or a related discipline) to establish themselves in a reflective and forward-looking Faculty within a selective school.
Candidates should be able to teach Chemistry to GCSE and A level; the ability to teach Biology to GCSE level would be an advantage. The successful applicant will also be required to teach Science at KS3.

Handsworth Grammar School (HGS) is voluntary aided, selective grammar school in Handsworth, Birmingham. The school admits boys from the age of 11-18 and, since 1997, girls into its sixth form. Founded in 1862, it the oldest surviving selective school in Birmingham.
Lessons focus on both learning habits as well as learning the content of courses and topics. The ten learning habits Handsworth Grammar School aims to build include collaborating, questioning, listening, planning and distillation.
A new £1.6 million sixth form centre, offering students their own bespoke area, is linked to the Lodge, where there is a one-stop shop for careers advice and guidance and examinations advice and guidance.
