Teacher of Chemistry/ Biology with responsibility for Primary School science liaison and Sixth Form Science Enrichment

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified teacher of Science to join a strong, successful and committed Science Department.  This post is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced teachers, including teachers of Key Stage 2.  The post will involve teaching science and working with local primary schools and sixth form students to deliver science enrichment activities.

Overton Grange is a popular comprehensive school, with around 1250 students on roll and has enjoyed consistent academic success; rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2016.  In 2008 the school received specialist status in English and Humanities and in 2011 (along with most Sutton secondary schools) converted from a Local Authority school to an academy. The school is fully committed to inclusion and has a Hearing Support Department.

The school is committed to the CPD of its staff; ‘Staff speak highly of the support and mentoring they receive. Middle leaders participate in a range of professional courses. They share good practice and support each other well to develop strong professional links. Middle leaders are actively engaged in the professional development of teachers and support those who are experienced or new to the profession.’  (Ofsted 2016)

They generally behave well and are supportive towards each other. This enables all pupils, including those accessing the hearing impairment resource, to be included well in academy life. Safeguarding is effective. Leaders and governors undertake appropriate and careful checks on staff, and record information well. Staff undertake regular and effective safeguarding training.”
