Bournemouth School for Girls is an 11-18 selective girls’ grammar school and Sixth Form in the heart of Bournemouth. BSG currently has around 1200 students on roll which includes those in our Sixth Form. It provides students with extensive academic and extra-curricular activities from Year 7 all the way through to when most leave us in Year 13. The school is academically successful, and is 7th highest in England’s Southwest region according to the Sunday Times Parent Power Survey 2024.

We are seeking a Teacher of Chemistry to join our school with effect from 1 September 2024 on a full time basis. This will provide an exciting opportunity to help build upon the existing high standards of our Science Department. 

 

We are also recruiting for a Deputy Head of Sixth Form, which carries a TLR 2.1 (£3,214). If you wish to be considered for this role, please stipulate your interest and outline relevant experience in your application.

 

The ideal candidate will be a teacher who can inspire and bring out the best in all our students. In addition to more experienced colleagues, this post is also suitable for ECTs.

Bournemouth School for Girls is a selective secondary grammar school located in Bournemouth, Dorset.  With around 1100 pupils on roll, including 300 in the Sixth Form, Bournemouth School for Girls is larger than the average secondary grammar. The school converted to academy status in 2011, and is now part of the South West Academic Trust. The trust includes a large number of grammar schools across the region, and is directly affiliated with Exeter University. The school can boast of a wide range of facilities, including large playing fields shared with a local boys’ school.

As a selective institution, the school sets a high academic standard for entry. Potential applicants are expected to pass a number of tests - Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning.  Entrance to the Sixth Form is open to external applications, pending GCSE results. The school itself offers a high-quality academic curriculum for its students, supported both by strong facilities and proper careers guidance.
