Job overview

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. We are an equal opportunities employer.

The Chemistry department at Forest School aims to inspire in students a sense of wonder about the world, to enable them to use deductive reasoning skills in problem-solving situations, to develop the core knowledge that will help them make sense of and question everyday phenomena and to use investigative skills to link theory with reality.

With this in mind, we seek to appoint an outstanding Chemistry Teacher. You will be required to teach the Department’s curriculum at any of the three key stages offered by the School.

The Science faculty at Forest School occupies a central place in the academic life of the School. The subject is very popular with pupils, with five sets in each year group at A Level.

In Y9 pupils study Biology, Chemistry and Physics separately.  In Y10 and Y11 a flexible curriculum allows pupils to continue their IGCSE Science by either taking Double Award Science or a minimum of two separate sciences from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. All routes can lead to A level study.

Closing date for applications 24th February 2020.

Interviews will take place week commencing 2nd March 2020.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis so early applications are encouraged. The School reserves the right to make an appointment at any stage.
