The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to join our team as Teacher of Chemistry. The successful candidate will be a leading practitioner who can inspire pupils, has an obvious passion for teaching Chemistry and a track record of outstanding pupil outcomes at both GCSE and A Level. The role may also suit someone new to teaching who demonstrates great potential and an aptitude for teaching. 

The successful candidate will teach Chemistry from Years 9-13, and Science to Years 7 and 8 as required. All teachers at OHS are involved in the delivery of pastoral care as form tutors and are expected to make contributions to both the co- and extra-curricular life of the school.

The Department:

All girls study science at GCSE (most study Triple Science) and Chemistry is one of the most popular subjects at A Level. Pupil results are excellent throughout and many pupils aspire to read related subjects at university. The Chemistry Department has five members of staff, one dedicated technician and two fully equipped, spacious laboratories. 

A wide range of co- and extra-curricular opportunities are provided to challenge and support girls, many in conjunction with the Biology and Physics Departments who work closely together as the Science Faculty. More information is contained within the candidate information pack.

About Oxford High School for Girls GDST

Oxford High School is an independent, non-denominational, all-through school for girls without nursery and with sixth form, situated in three sites in Summertown, North Oxford. It is one of 26 members of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust), meaning it is governed by the council and operates according to the trust’s policy. The school provides 906 places for primary, secondary and sixth-form students aged 4-19.

Oxford High School was founded in 1875 and is the oldest girls' school in the city.
