Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Walsall is an invigorating and rewarding place to work: the pupils are engaged and committed to study; the staff are intelligent, friendly and forward looking.

Due to the expansion of student numbers and the popularity of the subject at this school, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated teacher of chemistry to join our collaborative and supportive department. The chemistry department ensures excellent outcomes for its students and it is no surprise that it is amongst the most popular A Level subjects in the school: there are six sets in both Year 12 and Year 13 in 2019/20. The ideal candidate will be passionate about their own subject knowledge as this job opportunity provides the chance to teach pupils with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds within our richly-diverse community from Year 7 all the way up to Year 13. Many of our A Level chemistry students decide to continue studying in a related field post-18. The capacity to teach General Science to Year 7 and, ideally, another science subject at Key Stage 3, would be an advantage. Applications are welcome from both newly qualified and experienced teachers.

Informal visits to the School are welcomed and encouraged. Please feel free to contact Carol Wood, Human Resources Executive, if you are interested in visiting.

Applications should be accompanied by a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4 in which you should set out how your experience and expertise match the requirements of the role. An applicants’ information pack is also available from the School website.
