Job overview

Inspire and transform with Harris Academy Chafford Hundred. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated qualified Teacher of Classics.

Your opportunity

Harris Academy Chafford Hundred is an outstanding school with an excellent reputation. It is an oversubscribed 11-18 school where staff are supported to become the best through an investment in excellent professional development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated Classics teacher, with the ability to teach both Latin and Classics, to join our thriving and successful department. Due to increased pupil numbers next academic year, we are looking for a Latin Teacher (NQT or experienced) with a genuine drive and enthusiasm for their subject, together with the motivation and subject knowledge to be able to challenge and inspire our students in all three Key Stages of this lively, high- achieving and multicultural comprehensive school. The successful candidate, who must be a team player, will be expected to take an active involvement in the department and in school life in general. The ability to teach any other subject from the ‘Classics’ realm in KS5 is essential.

We also collaborate with the local Harris primary schools to teach Latin in Years 5-6, as well as supporting provision in another Harris secondary academy in the local area. The successful candidate will be expected to embrace this collaboration.

You will join a committed and supportive team and have the opportunity to teach across key stages three, four and five. We are happy to accept applications from teachers at any stage in their career: teachers with the ambition to train to become Lead Practitioners; NQTs; or those looking to experience an outstanding environment where they can focus on teaching.

We can offer you the opportunity to advance your career within a supportive academy environment. You will be part of a Federation established in developing practitioners and nurturing excellent future leaders, with unrivalled opportunities for progression;whatever your aspirations as a teacher, middle or senior leader, our Teaching School Alliance provides a range of bespoke courses and qualifications, including our Aspiring Leaders NPQML and NPQSL programmes to help you achieve your ambitions more quickly.

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, during this period it is our intention to continue with critical recruitment for key positions starting in September 2020. In place of academy interviews, alternative options will be offered so that no one is at a disadvantage, and applicants should expect telephone or virtual interviews, with the possibility of onsite academy interviews only in special cases. We want to reassure applicants that effective measures have been implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing whilst on academy premises.

Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time.
