·       Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date with the latest educational trends and practices

·       Strong knowledge and experience in programming languages, web development, data analysis, and networking

The Royal School is a heavily oversubscribed all-through, day and boarding free school. The aptitude and willingness to teach a range of abilities from ages 11-18 is essential.

Are you the person to stretch, challenge, support and inspire our students in and outside of the classroom?

The Royal School offers significant benefits for its staff:

·       Two additional weeks holiday compared to many schools (one week prior to Christmas, one week early in the summer)

·       Free breakfast, lunch and evening meals

·       Free tea and coffee provided

·       Staff laptop

·       Cycle to work scheme

·       Access to NPQ programmes

·       Opportunities for you and your family to attend boarding activities e.g. parties, Alton Towers, visits to cities and museums.

The school’s distinctive ethos and culture where a truly holistic view of the personal development of the child is central to all that we do. The wider ‘enrichment’ programme at this all-through 4-19 boarding and day school is essential and helps develop confident pupils well equipped for life beyond the school. All staff contribute to this extensive programme with their personal interests and to join in with existing activities.

The Computer Science and IT department is at an important stage in securing the highest standards of learning and teaching for children in the school community. The department has three Computer Suites with thirty Computers in each room. Across the school there are multiple IPAD, Chromebook and laptop trolleys, giving access to technology to staff and students across the school.

The school has entered a significant building programme where all areas of this well-established school will be brought up to the very highest standards. The department is eager to improve the standards and ‘passion’ of science for all students and aims to develop scientific reasoning and problem solving whilst still developing the fundamental skills students need.

We currently teach GCSE from year 9, spreading the demands of the specification over three years, offering the best opportunity for students to fully master all topics. IT and Computer Science is a very popular subject at GCSE and A-Level. At present, there are nine  groups in KS4 and four groups in KS5 and with the increasing numbers to the school, the IT and Computer Science team want to build on the positive exam success of previous years.

The Royal School is at an exciting time of development. The free school is an all-through (Reception to Y13) ‘independent’ school without day fees whilst still providing excellent boarding at affordable fees. Alongside the growth in pupil numbers, there will be an expansion in the curriculum, enrichment activities and improved facilities, enabling us to extend and enhance still further the range of opportunities for all our young people.

As a result of The Royal School’s excellent CPD programme and the supportive team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to: develop professionally; improve and extend their knowledge; develop skills and experience; share outstanding and innovative practice; and contribute to the development of an exciting, challenging and supportive learning environment in and outside of the classroom.

The Royal School has achieved excellent academic results throughout its history and has an outstanding reputation for nurturing and developing confident, well-disciplined and successful individuals who progress successfully to the next stage of their life and career. We relish this next phase in its existence which enables us to review and build on our current success in preparing our young people for a rapidly evolving world. We hope that you will share in this passion for a broader educational opportunity.

If you are a creative, motivated, and experienced IT and computer science teacher who is passionate about helping students develop their skills and interests in this field, we encourage you to apply. ECT’s are welcome.

Please, visit The Royal School website for further information and details of how to apply and we welcome personal visits to the school to see for yourself this vibrant, heavily oversubscribed school community.
