Teacher of Computer Science and / or Mathematics
Pilar leader of ‘STEM’ for a suitable candidate
Start negotiable, latest September 2018
Escola Global is looking to appoint a secondary teacher of Computer Science to start in September 2018. The ideal candidate will be a team player who would be able to teach across KS3, IGCSE and A level. Experience of KS5 teaching (A levels, Bachillerato or IB-DP) is an advantage but not essential for a well qualified candidate with KS5 potential. The role would also be suitable for a Mathematics teacher able to teach Computer Science and we would consider any other combination involving Computer Science.
The ideal candidate could also take a lead role in developing the ‘STEM’ pillar of our curriculum. Part of this role would involve planning joint projects with our Science and Mathematics teams, as well as developing links with local businesses in the University Science Park.
Candidates do not have to be British trained but experience of IGCSE teaching is preferable. Suitable candidates should also have the ability to adopt a project based learning approach where subjects are, as far as possible, taught around a common theme in collaboration with other teachers.
The school is located in the University Science Park, just 10 minutes from Palma centre, in pleasant countryside. It is only 20 minutes from Mallorca airport and a short 30 minute flight to Barcelona (residents are entitled to a 50% discount on flights). Mallorca Airport operates all year round and offers multiple low-cost opportunities to a range of destinations.
Escola Global is a new start up school and has its own philosophy referred to as the 5 pillars, which students follow (Nature & Nutrition, Body & Health, Learning Support, Creativity and Innovation). The school was founded on the belief in a holistic education and therefore has a number of aims which; permeate the curriculum. We place a high value on the development of the whole child and celebrate their wonderfully diverse achievements and talents. Our first IGCSE cohort will take their examinations in May 2018 and in September 2018 we will open our new 6th form.
We seek professionals who can think outside the box, want to try something new and who share our ethos. Interested candidates should send their CV and short covering letter to us.
Successful applicants will initially be selected for interview via Skype but we value teachers coming to visit us first before finally committing.
Our school is committed to the safeguarding of children and promoting child welfare. The appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure and police checks in all countries that you have worked in.
