Cambourne Village College:  Teacher of Computer Science

The Vacancy: Teacher of Computer Science

Full or part-time - offering another subject if required.

The Computer Science Department

Computer Science is a thriving subject at Cambourne Village College. We believe that a computing education should be engaging and relevant for all students and the department works enthusiastically to ensure our curriculum reflects this and is up to date with current technological advances and educational thinking. As a result, Computer Science is a popular subject at KS3, resulting in a strong uptake at GCSE.

We are fortunate to work within a school where ICT is meaningfully embedded throughout all subjects, allowing the Computer Science curriculum to focus on computing. KS3 students receive weekly lessons and follow a structured and progressive curriculum designed to develop students’ programming and computing knowledge. Programming is learnt and developed using different languages, selected according to application suitability, developing fluency in concepts. Through the use of Raspberry Pis and micro controllers, including the micro:bit, students gain hands on experience of practical uses of computing, computer systems, and different operating systems. At KS4, students follow the AQA Computer Science GCSE course, building on the KS3 curriculum using Python for the programming aspects of the course.

We are therefore looking for a strong classroom practitioner with a passion for computing education to join our team. The successful candidate would preferably have sufficient knowledge or experience to teach at both key stage 3 and 4 and be willing to develop and enhance the existing curriculum, keeping abreast of developments in computing education.
