Job overview

Testwood School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Computer Science for September, 2019.

Do not apply for this job if you want to teach spreadsheets, presentations and how to produce endless reports. However, if you can explain how to convert decimal to binary and how the London tube map is a perfect example of abstraction then read on.

We are looking to employ the right person who can teach Computing and ICT in a department which has a progressive and challenging curriculum across KS3 and KS4. Among the many different topics, you would teach young people how data travels across the internet, to create music using binary, and many different ways of using algorithms.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for teachers who are imaginative, creative and inspiring to work in a supportive, energetic and innovative school where students achieve well and which is highly-regarded in the local community. We would love to work with an engaging, warm and committed individual who is committed to the school strapline: ‘Every Child, Every Step, Every Day.’

You would teach both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 3 classes to young people who are keen to do well, although sometimes they do need a little push along the way. Students here are active users of the cloud and remote working facilities.

The school is located in the town of Totton which is located close to the nearby city buzz of Southampton, the charm of the old city of Winchester and the idyllic outdoors of the New Forest just a few minutes away. Transport links to London are excellent for those who like to explore further afield.

Full details and application forms can be downloaded from our website: www.testwood.hants.sch.uk. Please send your completed application form to Jayne Baker, Headteacher’s P.A. Her email address is: j.baker@testwood.hants.sch.uk

We positively encourage prospective candidates to visit our school prior to applying, please contact the Headteacher’s PA, Jayne Baker to arrange this.

Closing date: 9am 23rd April 2019

Interview date: To be confirmed

Testwood School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 11-16 academy, situated in Southampton in Hampshire. The secondary school, which  has 694 students on its roll, converted to academy status in 2011.

In 2004 the school became Testwood Sports College. However, in 2017, the headteacher and governors changed its name to Testwood School to reflect the excellence offered across the curriculum. While sport is no longer the school’s main focus, it still offers outstanding sporting facilities, provision and teaching expertise.
