Job overview

Arden is a truly exceptional school at the heart of the community and the peak of academic excellence. Visitors are astounded by our confident and articulate pupils. The warmth and trust between teachers and students is exemplary, as is the constant drive to achieve maximum personal and academic potential.

In every way, the Computing and IT Department mirrors the aims and beliefs of the school. All staff work hard, supported by a committed management team, to provide a safe and encouraging environment for learning. Arden pupils love to acquire new knowledge and skills; our teachers relish the opportunity to deliver engaging, challenging lessons to committed pupils, supported by caring families.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Computing and IT. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to motivate students through inspirational teaching. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher to join a thriving school and work with students who are keen to learn. The successful applicant will also be able to teach across all key stages. The ability to teach A Level Computer Science is desirable.

The department currently has three full time members of staff. Students are offered both Computer Science at GCSE and A Level, and Cambridge National Certificate in IT at Level 2 and Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in IT at Level 3.

The school has a proven record of success at GCSE and A Level. In summer 2017, 84% of pupils gained A*-C/9-4 grades in 5 or more subjects with 84% of students also gaining a grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics (66% gaining grade 5 or above). The progress 8 measure rose from 0.27 to 0.37. 36% of GCSE grades awarded were at A*/A and 42% of pupils achieved the English Baccalaureate. At A Level 99% of pupils achieved A*-E with an average grade per candidate of a B-.

All applicants should have high expectations of the learning and achievement of all students and be able to inspire commitment and enthusiasm through creative and interesting lessons. There are excellent development opportunities for all staff. The Academy provides CPD opportunities, childcare vouchers, pension and cycle to work scheme. As a Multi Academy Trust we offer fantastic opportunities for ambitious staff to progress. Equally, few other places offer the chance to simply teach motivated pupils devoted to learning.
