Job overview

A position has arisen for a teacher of computing for one year as maternity cover. To be successful, you must possess the skills required to confidently and creatively teach across Key States 3 to 5; inspiring students to further explore this dynamic subject. 

Teachers at Dame Allan’s set themselves the very highest standards and commit to ‘going the extra mile’ to ensure pupils enjoy their lessons and make outstanding progress. This position would suit an NQT or experienced teacher.

As well as undertaking teachers’ professional duties, you will possess the following experience, qualifications and qualities:

• A well-qualified graduate with excellent teaching skills, preferably a graduate of computer science or an IT graduate with experience in computing;

• The enthusiasm and commitment required to make a significant contribution to the department;

• The ability to teach across the ability and age range;

• The ability to develop resources and teaching materials that engage and motivate pupils of all abilities;

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

• Willingness to contribute to collaborative planning and revision of schemes of work

• A desire to play an active role in the provision of extra-curricular activities, including the promotion of computing activities. (Please highlight previous experience of this in your application)

• Sympathy with, and readiness to support, the Schools’ educational ethos 

• A reflective practitioner

• A “pupil centred” teaching approach – someone who makes it a priority to know the pupils they teach very well and uses a variety of teaching techniques in order to ensure all pupils achieve their very best

The Schools have a full programme of extra-curricular activities and the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to this.
