Open to both qualified and unqualified teachers. This is a full-time fixed-term opportunity in the first instance 30/06/2022.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive college, based in North Lincolnshire. The school is looking to add a Teacher of Criminology and Sociology to its progressive and supportive Social Sciences Department ideally starting in September 2021.

The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Criminology and Sociology at A-level. You will support the Head of Social Sciences to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

You would teach either BTEC Level 3 Criminology, A Level Sociology or a mix– both highly popular subjects with our students and form a significant part of our College. Our Social Science department is a recently established team who have reshaped and rejuvenated the department, making big improvements in the most challenging teaching year. You will be surrounded by enthusiastic and dedicated specialists who you will work with to progress the departments even further.

The College is a thriving, successful (OFSTED Grade 2 ‘Good’) 16-19 Sixth Form College and has consistently been in the top 25% of all schools and colleges for A-Level and top 10% for BTEC. The college is located on a pleasant site in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and ten minutes from the M180, which is fed directly from the M18 and then the M1 – you would be able to commute here quite easily from most of the towns and conurbations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, including Pontefract, Doncaster, Sheffield, Grimsby, Lincoln and Hull. The College has excellent in-house training programs for NQT’s and aspiring leaders, ongoing CPD opportunities in-house and externally, and would support individuals who would be taking their first steps into teaching.  The college offers a wide variety of benefits for staff, including free parking, on site catering facilities, LGPS and TPS pensions and access to a wide variety of locally agreed discounts."

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQML and MA in Educational Leadership

• support package for NQT’s/RQT’s including CPD and NQT mentorship;

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as TLR or Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (NOT ESSENTIAL)

• a relevant Criminology and Sociology Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Criminology and Sociology up to A-level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• a love and passion for education.
