A school like no other, Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We’re currently looking for a Teacher of Dance with a passion for the subject to join our thriving Dance Department.
A thriving and highly successful department which has grown extensively over the past three years, and is likely to continue to do so, we work mainly from the dance centre, which includes a dance studio, with fully sprung dance floor, mirrors and ballet barres. We are proud of the outstanding results our students achieve and also run an extensive extra-curricular programme with the support of teachers with varying specialisms, teaching a variety of dance styles and graded examinations. Join us, and you could soon be playing your part in our ongoing success.
You’ll be teaching Years 9-13 academic dance following the AQA GCSE and A-Level syllabus on a third of a timetable allocation (currently around 12 lessons of 60 minutes in a twelve-day timetable cycle). You’ll also work alongside our Heads of Dance to help with the relevant planning, marking and monitoring of classes. Contributing to the extracurricular timetable where agreed, specifically for organising and supervising additional rehearsals for GCSE and or A-Level students for coursework performances, will be important too. And, when it comes to grading and reporting, carrying out general administration and/or training to support teaching and learning or just keeping the studio tidy, again we’ll count on you.
To succeed, you’ll need a good level degree and Masters or Post Graduate qualification in a related subject and 3 A Levels, IB or equivalent. We’ll also be looking for a thorough knowledge of the (13-18) subject Curriculum – GCSE and A-level, a recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE (or equivalent experience) and teaching experience at years 10-11. Confident in your ability to teach all years and abilities to an ‘Outstanding’ level, and deepen the scholarly nature of both the subject and the College, you’re keen to contribute to the efficient running of the Department too. Above all, you have a real ability to inspire and ignite passions for dance and a sharp and progressive vision of the subject.
This excellent career development opportunity comes with a generous salary and benefits package. So, if you’re able to deliver dynamic and effective lessons, willing to contribute to the extra-curricular and pastoral life of the college and keen to continue to develop professionally, apply today.
Closing date: 6pm, Tuesday 20 August 2019
Interviews will take place 27 and 28 August 2019
