Job overview
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic full-time teacher of Design and Engineering to teach year 6 pupils and throughout the senior school from January 2024. Reflecting the school’s strong commitment to teacher training and development, we are eager to welcome applications from recent graduates in design and/or engineering, individuals considering a change in career, as well as experienced teachers. The school runs its own bespoke teacher training programme culminating in QTS.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be a passionate, creative and flexible in their approach.
Essential:
- A genuine interest in Design and/or Engineering as an academic discipline
- A good degree in Design, Engineering or a related subject
- An ability to work well with others
- A desire to work with high-achieving and ambitious pupils
- Excellent communication, organisation and listening skills
- An eagerness to lead pupils in creative design and/or engineering clubs, projects and competitions
The following would be advantageous:
- Prior experience of teaching Design and Engineering in a secondary school environment
- Ability to contribute to Games and/or Friday afternoon co-curricular programme
As part of the interview process all candidates will be required to teach an academic lesson. Preparation work in advance of the lesson will be required, and details will be provided prior to interview.
