Job overview
Teacher of Design and Technology
MPS
Required for September 2018
“This outstanding school exemplifies the very best in educational provision”*
Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, Yardleys is a heavily oversubscribed 11-16 multi-ethnic stand-alone academy with 900 students on roll. The School is ambitious and well managed with an inspiring learning environment. Teachers benefit from generous non-contact time, weekly training and smaller than average class sizes.
The collaborative ethos which permeates all parts of the school is summed up by our motto “Working together for a better future”. This results in a highly supportive community, which allied with excellent student behaviour and a well organised school, allows teachers to focus on their teaching and improving their practice.
The DT department is a well-established supportive team which achieves excellent results. In the summer of 2017 67% of students achieved an A*-C in Product Design with 22% of them gaining A-A*. Design Technology is a very popular subject in the School especially at key stage 4.
We wish to appoint an ambitious, creative and dynamic Teacher of Design Technology, willing to contribute to the development of the DT curriculum. Familiarity with the specification and the new curriculum would be an advantage. As well as strengths in planning we are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to use data to inform their teaching and expand upon our use of future technologies.
A TLR may be available for an exceptional candidate who is willing to lead the subject. NQTs are also very welcome to apply and will be offered the option of starting in July.
Yardleys offers a commitment to professional development opportunities, an excellent induction programme, a healthcare package, well behaved students who are keen to learn and state of the art facilities.
