Job overview

Perryfields Academy is a vibrant and inclusive school where we are very proud of the ongoing successes and achievements of our students. Our vision is one where students aim to achieve the very highest standard they can, and everyone is supported to maximise their potential.

The thread that runs through everything we do at the school is our desire and commitment to ensure that there are opportunities for everyone, whilst supporting them to achieve excellence.

We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and committed Teacher to join our team. Your role will include teaching Design and Technology at KS3 as well Engineering (Vocational) at KS4. It is payable on the Teachers’ Pay Range according to qualifications and experience, and we welcome applications from both ECTs and more experienced Teachers.

The DT Department currently consists of three specialist teaching staff, who teach predominantly in specialist DT classrooms, including two workshops and a catering classroom. All our classrooms have network facilities, digital projectors and visualisers. There is a range of equipment/machinery available for use in the workshops to support the curriculum.

The Design Technology department is committed to delivering a curriculum that’s accessible to all and which provides the broadest possible range of opportunities for students. We want our students to become self-motivated and confident learners, who can work independently and as part of a team, whilst developing skills for life. With this in mind, we aim to ensure that learners develop technical and practical competencies as well as the wider skills that are valued by employers. Our main priority is for students to be problem solvers who are not afraid of making mistakes. We hope our students will become responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.

This is an exciting and challenging time to be teaching DT/H&SC at Perryfields Academy. We’re constantly adapting teaching and learning strategies to keep pace with ever-shifting changes to both the curriculum and exam board specifications.

If you’re passionate about improving life-chances for students and if you’d like to be a part of our dynamic DT team, we want to hear from you. Please click the apply button to be taken to our careers portal.

Closing date: 3 October 2022.

Interview date: 10 October 2022.

This Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Please note successful candidates for all Broadleaf Partnership Trust vacancies will be requested to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service, although a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining the position.
