Job overview

Noadswood School, Dibden Purlieu, Southampton

Teacher of Design and Technology

Required from September 2019

Permanent – Full-time (Part-time considered)

Salary: Main Pay Range or as per experience

We are looking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic and innovative teacher of Design and Technology to join our highly successful team of supportive teaching colleagues whose shared purpose is to inspire and challenge the students at Noadswood. We are keen to appoint to the Design and Technology team as we do not wish to see this subject marginalised while it remains a popular subject for our KS4 pupils. The Design and Technology faculty is incredibly well resourced in terms of IT, specialist machinery and two technicians.

Noadswood is a very popular and successful school of 1000 pupils and at our last Ofsted (June 2017) the team remarked that "the school has a strong culture of care for the individual".  We strive to make learning exciting and encourage innovative approaches to both teaching and learning; our School Improvement Plan and Professional Development Programme is firmly based in the development of excellent pedagogy and in improving outcomes for pupils.  We are engaged at the forefront of a number of national innovation projects and all of our staff are involved in professional learning and take part in action research aimed at school improvement. We strongly believe that this is at the core of an excellent school and in recent years many colleagues have completed Masters level courses and enrolled on national development programmes.

We are an outward looking school, with a host of opportunities to collaborate with other Primary and Secondary schools in our area and in our county, and this menu of opportunities is increasing all the time. There are equally many opportunities to lead and join in with enrichment visits and activities, as well as to be part of a school that is top class at sport, and has a thriving culture of music, drama, dance, arts and literature – the world really is your oyster from Noadswood.

We have been an Academy since 2011, using this to enhance the learning opportunities, facilities and other benefits for all; this includes providing health benefits for all colleagues at Noadswood. The school is situated in an extremely pleasant area on the “Waterside”, a coastal strip with Southampton Water on one side and the New Forest National Park on the other. It is easy to access, Southampton is close by and we have staff who travel in from Bournemouth in the West, Salisbury and Winchester to the North, and Portsmouth in the East.

Applications are welcome from those with a specific specialism and those keen to teach across the Design and Technology disciplines.  NQT applications are also welcome.
