Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a Product Design and/or Resistant Materials specialist to join our Design & Technology team. You will have a passion for your subject and the skills to engage and motivate students across the age and ability range.

At Key Stage 3, students experience a range of specialisms through a rotation based curriculum. Students achieve highly at GCSE and the school is committed to further growing our A Level D&T provision. We are seeking a teacher who can bring their expertise in Product Design and/or Resistant Materials to the A Level course. A willingness to teach other subjects within the rotation (Graphics, Food or Textiles) would be advantageous.

As part of the Art & Design faculty, the Design & Technology team is playing a key role in the school’s journey to achieving the Artsmark Award, a valuable platform for promoting the subject within the school and to the wider community.

Parmiter’s coordinates CPD for the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training and offers a robust induction programme. We can offer the successful candidate:

  • A comprehensive programme to support the Early Career Framework
  • Bespoke CPD to suit your career goals
  • Complimentary use of a new on-site fitness suite
  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff (a qualifying period may apply)
  • Highly talented and engaged students
  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surrounds with ample parking.

Parmiter’s is an exceptional school and all colleagues share a passion for educational excellence in every area. Applicants are encouraged to visit the school website and social media accounts for more information. Candidates are welcome to contact admin@parmiters.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit to the school or discussion about the department and the role prior to application.

Application forms, available from the school website, should be returned with a covering letter to the Headmaster, Mr Michael Jones by the closing date of noon on Monday October 3rd.

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must declare any criminal convictions as the post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointments will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers.
