Job overview

Highbury Fields School is a flourishing, high performing 11-18 girls’ state school, which was graded Outstanding in all categories in October 2016.

Design & Technology is a highly valued component of our curriculum across Key Stages 3 to 5. This is an opportunity to join a thriving technology team, which is committed to girls participation in STEM. Applications are invited from teachers with experience of, or the skills and willingness to teach, a range of technology specialisms.

Technology at Highbury Fields School is all about “creativity and experimenting, to allow the pupils to grow, while taking risks, making mistakes and having fun.”

The Technology faculty is forward thinking and dynamic and prepares students to participate in tomorrow’s changing technological world. Through STEM centred design and technology, all pupils learn to be perceptive and knowledgeable users of products, and aspire to become the innovators of the future. Highbury Fields School works in partnership with local business and services to develop and support the pupils. Students participate at national level in Robotics competitions.

The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher and subject specialist with experience in two or more areas of Technology.

This position would be well suited to an NQT, but we welcome applications from colleagues at all stages of their careers.

The successful applicant will:

• Be an excellent teacher who has proven results across all key stages

• Be highly ambitious for all students

• Be a team player

• Be willing to contribute to the wider school curriculum

About Highbury Fields School

Highbury Fields School community is united by a firm commitment to the values of mutual respect and tolerance.  Our school is a culturally rich community that reflects and celebrates the social diversity of London.  Whilst students are supported and encouraged in their individual talents and ambitions, Highbury Fields is characterised by a strong feeling of togetherness and this spirit permeates everything we do, whether it be in the classroom, on the sports field or on stage.

All in the Highbury Fields School community are deeply ambitious for our students and firmly believe that every child in our care can, and will, achieve social and academic excellence.   Our strength in understanding our students and developing them into safe, happy and confident young women is the cornerstone of our students’ success.  GCSE results are consistently in the top 5% of schools in the country for progress and our sixth formers have all progressed to university or further training for the last five years.  Many of these students read their degrees at Russell Group universities.

We are dedicated to truly knowing every child in our care and our ethos enables students to enjoy their learning, challenge themselves and to think creatively.  As a consequence, Highbury Fields students are determined but compassionate; independent but community minded.  They understand both local and wider society and are ready to contribute to both.
