Fixed-Term Position (start date ASAP)

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Design & Technology to join our successful department on a fixed-term basis as soon as possible, to cover a period of maternity leave until December 2023.

The Design & Technology Department currently comprises four full time teachers and a full-time technician. The department has excellent facilities; workshop space and access to IT are particular strengths. We have three design-based classrooms, two of which are equipped with PCs running Autodesk Inventor CAD modelling software and Adobe Creative Suite. We have three workshop spaces hosting a variety of equipment, including facilities to work with timber, metal and plastics. Additionally, the department has a number of 3D printers and a laser cutter.

A broad general course in Design & Technology is taught in S1 and S2. In S3 pupils have the opportunity to choose National 5 Design & Manufacture and/or National 5 Graphic Communication. Both of these courses are taught up to Advanced Higher level. The department also offers a further range of courses to S6 pupils. This currently includes; an accredited course in Autodesk Inventor and an interest course in Practical Skills Development.

The department are keen to explore the possibility of introducing Engineering Science in the future. An ability and willingness to contribute to the development and future delivery of Engineering Science would be highly desirable but not essential.

In addition to curricular responsibilities the successful candidate must be willing to commit to and develop extra-curricular activities within the Design & Technology department.

All applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the GTC Scotland.
