We are seeking to appoint for as soon as Easter 2023, a qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our Design & Technology team. The successful candidate will be expected to teach within the Design and Technology Resistant Materials area of the subject. This is a part-time, maternity cover.

 

THE DESIGN FACULTY

 The Design Faculty at Moulton School and Science College is well established and has an excellent reputation within the local area. The department is staffed by five specialist teachers supported by two technical staff.

 

Design has specialist facilities located in two distinct areas of the school, the Food Technology department consisting of one kitchen and one demonstration/theory room which are located in the main school building and is equipped with a whiteboard, projector and a full-class bank of Chromebook computers connected to an A4 colour printer. The Design & Technology (including Textile’s) areas are located in a recently refurbished specialist building that includes facilities for working with both compliant and non-compliant materials. The building also provides a centralised learning resource facility equipped with audio-visual equipment and a network of PCs which are linked to a range of in-put and out-put devices including a CNC router machine, a 3D printer, a laser cutter, two cutter-plotters, a number of Janome sewing and embroidery machines, and sublimation printing.

 

Design has developed significantly over recent years, both in terms of facilities and curriculum. We pride ourselves in looking forward, a vision based on sound pedagogical principles, keeping the best of traditional thinking and being receptive to new challenges and philosophies. Food Preparation and Nutrition and Design & Technology (Textiles, Graphics, Systems and Control, and Resistant Materials) are taught to all Year 7, 8 and 9 students, preparing them with a foundation for further and specialised study to GCSE and GCE qualifications. The faculty has aspirations to broaden the range of subjects it offers at GCE A level, currently AQA Design and Technology, Product Design is offered.
