Great Western Academy will open in North Swindon in September 2018 with 150 students in Year 7 and up to 80 students in Year 12. This is a rare opportunity to become one of the founding team of staff that will shape the Academy from the very start. We are seeking dynamic and inspiring classroom teachers who will help to ensure that the Academy is outstanding in all its activities from day one.
Having successfully appointed our senior and middle leaders we are now seeking to complete our teaching team with excellent classroom practitioners. Our students will follow a broad and stimulating curriculum in Year 7 and we are offering a suite of A Levels and other Level 3 qualifications in the Sixth Form. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to teach both Years 7 and 12, to influence the curriculum taught and to grow their practice as the Academy expands over the coming years.
Due to the levels of teaching required in our first year this role can be particularly flexible. It could suit a full-time teacher able to teach across all aspects of Design and Technology in Year 7, or a part-time teacher with a specialism in one or two of those aspects. Alternatively the ability (or potential) to teach effectively in a different subject area could be built into a varied and attractive full-time role for the right candidate, who could then specialise in their field of Design and Technology in future years if desired. Our priority is very much to recruit the best classroom practitioners who can ensure our students arrive at the Academy excited about the day ahead and leave each day talking about the excellent learning they have experienced.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. We will use our brand new building and state-of-the-art facilities to help achieve this but it will be a fantastic team of new staff who will turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire students in the classroom and beyond then this provides you with the opportunity to shape your practice and that of others in a brand new setting.
As the Academy grows so early opportunities for middle leadership roles will become available and this provides an excellent chance for successful applicants to develop their careers quickly in a variety of possible directions.
Further details are available in the documents attached. If you have any questions prior to applying please feel free to contact the Academy by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 01793 732809.
